Real or Fake?

Sometimes I get the most lovely comments directed to my spam and it pains me that I don’t know if they’re real or fake. The commenters are from outside the world of WP. To the ones who left me these comments (if they are genuine), thank you for these incredible compliments ♥️

Hello and welcome to my page~ My name is Larisa--a very common Slavic name that was either derived from the Latin word hilaris, meaning "cheerful," or from the Greek city of Larissa, meaning "strong fortress." Born in Ukraine, I emigrated with my family to America when I was still a small child and now make my home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Growing up immersed in two vastly differing cultures led me to have a burning curiosity about people all over the world. Stemming from said curiosity, I have fallen in love with traveling to other countries, meeting new people and delving into their culture, exploring new cities, and of course, dining on the local cuisine! If I cannot escape into a different country, then my next favorite method of adventure is to lose myself in a spectacular book. I enjoy books of all genres--from fiction and novels, to biographies and ethnographies. As long as it captures my fancy and holds me spellbound the entire time, I will burn through the book like a forest fire! Because of this penchant for reading and travel, coupled with my love of deep and mysterious things, I have been often called a dreamer and I find the title suits me. With that being said, I invite you to stay a while, perhaps make yourself a cup of tea and linger through my posts and feel free to comment or share a thought :-)

  1. At least your spam – if it is spam – is nice and complimentary, unlike some of my spam. For example, here’s one that I got (spelling and grammar not my doing):

“You mеan like when we sing rewarԁ songs in Church?? Larry requested and dadԀy nodded.?  Well I could make up a worhip song.? So Larry jumped to his feet aand started to make up a song to a eally ԁangerous tune. ?Jesus is  so cool. Its fᥙn being with God. He iss tthe funnest God anyone may have.? Larry sang very badly soo Lee had put his arms oer hhis ears.”

  2. The bad news: it’s spam. Those same messages appear quite a bit (and word for word) but always from different web addresses.

The good news: what those bots said is true! It’s always nice to see new work from you on here. “Quality writing” is an understatement.

      1. I’ve enabled notifications for each time you post, hopefully that’ll fix it. Otherwise I’ll make my way over to ebony and crows with a wistful, determined look, laughing in the face of scheming, tricky WordPress! 😁

            1. I haven’t been around much lately, you are correct on that, Ken. I’ve had too many moving pieces that I’ve been trying to wrestle down in my personal life that has kept me occupied to the brim and so it hasn’t left little to no room for creativity. I’m really hoping that I’m this new month of quarantine I can start being more creative again. How are you doing?

              1. I’m struggling to recover from a persistent flu virus, feeling a bit better after almost 4 weeks.
Given the current health crisis, I thought of you and hoped you were doing OK.
(Of course, I also missed seeing your lovely avatar on my blog.)

                  1. I think the flu has almost gone, now.
My problem is, because I always feel unwell anyway, with many different symptoms (due to ME/CFS etc), it’s not easy to tell where one illness ends and another begins.
So I’m just feeling about as ill as usual, instead of UNusually ill. 🙂

    1. I don’t understand what the purpose even is? Who has so much time on their hands that they create websites that go and troll other sites on the internet via bots or algorithms or however else they employ their nefarious deeds. I imagine that you have to be a certain kind of miserable.

  3. Personally, I think these are spams. Those are general comments spammers copy and paste in every other blog. These types of comments easily fit in any post. Well, what happens is these spammers leave a URL link along with the comment. If any click on those links their website gets a visitor. Also, if your website link appears in most other website you rank high in google search engine.

When spammers copy paste these comments regularly wordpress gets alerted and declares is spam.

Don’t worry. wordpress knows the trick. They are getting it right. I mean most of the times.

      1. Hahaha. Let’s hope they do. We could be millionaires coz they are so many. But again it is intended to make money for themselves and not to make you rich. Your just the means …a stepping stone, per say.
