With every word I free, I tear
pieces of my soul
from your double fisted grip that
in turns
caressed me and
acquainted me with bitter loss.
You, who stood silhouetted
against everything I wantonly desired.
Dark, Machiavellian symphony
with lilting melodies of aching tenderness.
With blood red lips
I whisper desperate
prayers.

Hello and welcome to my page~ My name is Larisa--a very common Slavic name that was either derived from the Latin word hilaris, meaning "cheerful," or from the Greek city of Larissa, meaning "strong fortress." Born in Ukraine, I emigrated with my family to America when I was still a small child and now make my home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Growing up immersed in two vastly differing cultures led me to have a burning curiosity about people all over the world. Stemming from said curiosity, I have fallen in love with traveling to other countries, meeting new people and delving into their culture, exploring new cities, and of course, dining on the local cuisine! If I cannot escape into a different country, then my next favorite method of adventure is to lose myself in a spectacular book. I enjoy books of all genres--from fiction and novels, to biographies and ethnographies. As long as it captures my fancy and holds me spellbound the entire time, I will burn through the book like a forest fire! Because of this penchant for reading and travel, coupled with my love of deep and mysterious things, I have been often called a dreamer and I find the title suits me. With that being said, I invite you to stay a while, perhaps make yourself a cup of tea and linger through my posts and feel free to comment or share a thought :-)

    1. Thank you monsieur Dracul 🙏🏻 I think this next admission will reflect poorly on me but I don’t think I’ve ever read Poe. We may have read his work in school, but I can’t bring to mind any of his works. Something I really should remedy.

And yes, some poems just don’t ask much from you, words flow out naturally, like they had been waiting inside. You have a beautiful way of expressing yourself, keep writing ❤

        1. Haha you’re sweet 🙈 Sometimes I feel like every poem I write is just a variation of the same poem, but I think that is a conundrum many writers run up against. Thank you, it’s definitely a goal of mine to continue to write.

  11. There’s so much here I LOVE. Gosh, I could go on and on. The gentle tone contrasted with the savage “dark, Machiavellian symphony”, the gorgeous prose, the haunted set, the atmosphere rent with gloom and that powerful wound of an end. Unfortunately, I relate to too much here too, to feel validated and enhance my appreciation of the piece.
    There’s so much more I could go on about, but some other day.

      1. It’s so beautiful! I couldn’t help myself and why should I when you write after your rejuvenating break? Clearly your voice sounds richer here. Also, forgot to mention the aural images in the piece- heard fluttering and flapping right from the title itself. I am crazy about the darker themes in literature (my scorpionic disposition perhaps), and this was just Delight. With a capital D. 💕❤️💐

        Yes, things down here are outrageous. It’s seemingly happened overnight.
        So many of us are in shock at the power tripping of too many unelected officials and the police. Their brutality at the protests has been truly hard to grasp. I switched the MSM narrative off last October already, as it was beyond ridiculous. Ive seen alternative footage of the protests and it’s criminal the way the media has been portraying it. We have hardly any cases but the fear mongering has worked on too many.
        I can’t believe what is happening. Our democracy is gone. Just like that.
        I’ve been wanting to blog about it, but I’m so heartbroken and in shock.
        We’re living in hope at the rise of new political parties who want to stop this madness, bring actual science back in to the conversation without fear, and medical freedoms again, based on honesty and transparency of ALL the data. Big wish list, but we have to have hope, right?

        1. My heart breaks reading that. They’re trying to do the same here in the USA and I just can’t absorb it anymore. I haven’t been listening to the media either, but here and there I’ll see footage or an article and it’s horrifying what the elites are unleashing on the globe. I fully believe these are the beginnings of the birth pangs that the Messiah talked about and it’s almost unreal that these times are here. Yes, I do have hope but only in the Lord and in the coming Kingdom. Hopefully we will have some reprieve, but only time will tell 🙏🏻

          1. I agree with you. It really does seem like certain prophecies are coming to life before our eyes. I didn’t think I’d see it in my lifetime. But here we are.
            So many miraculous things have happened to us this last year, to give hope and reprieve, and beautiful reminders that Christ is near in everything. And it’s been amazing to see people of very different political persuasions come together and discuss things. As it should be. I follow Matt Taibbi’s independent site on Substack, (he writes for Rolling Stone, maybe you’ve seen it?) and he did a piece on the way the left has become so bat shit crazy extreme, people are jumping ship in droves, and maybe this is a chance for people on the left and right to start really talking and solving some things. Those distinctions hardly seem relevant anymore, it’s definitely elitest totalitarianism vs humanity. He’s written about the phenomena of leftists using rightist platforms now as they aren’t accepted anywhere else. So very interesting discussions have ensued of course. I don’t watch Fox News so I learnt about this Tucker Carlson phenomenon from him, just as one example. And I’ve really enjoyed the videos the English comedian, Russell Brand has been doing. (I posted one on my About page). I align more with his politics anyway, not in everything but I totally agree with his approach of who cares about left and right right now, we just want transparency and truth!! Wherever that might come from. Who’s brave enough to report it now? And why should we even be afraid to talk about these things?

            As you said, only time will tell 🙏🙏
