A bit of a break

Hello lovelies,

To those who care to read this post, I am going to take a bit of a break from my blog. I’ve been a little too attached to it since I started blogging again a few months ago. I just need to come up for air and clear the cobwebs a bit. With that said, I leave you with one of my favorite little poems. I wish I could take the credit for it, but alas, I didn’t write this beaut. But I wish I did.

And also, just a dash of sage advice:

Naps are important. Never forget.

Hello and welcome to my page~ My name is Larisa--a very common Slavic name that was either derived from the Latin word hilaris, meaning "cheerful," or from the Greek city of Larissa, meaning "strong fortress." Born in Ukraine, I emigrated with my family to America when I was still a small child and now make my home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Growing up immersed in two vastly differing cultures led me to have a burning curiosity about people all over the world. Stemming from said curiosity, I have fallen in love with traveling to other countries, meeting new people and delving into their culture, exploring new cities, and of course, dining on the local cuisine! If I cannot escape into a different country, then my next favorite method of adventure is to lose myself in a spectacular book. I enjoy books of all genres--from fiction and novels, to biographies and ethnographies. As long as it captures my fancy and holds me spellbound the entire time, I will burn through the book like a forest fire! Because of this penchant for reading and travel, coupled with my love of deep and mysterious things, I have been often called a dreamer and I find the title suits me. With that being said, I invite you to stay a while, perhaps make yourself a cup of tea and linger through my posts and feel free to comment or share a thought :-)

  1. I care to read it, because I love to read your writing, and I’ve come to see you as a friend in this blogosphere. I get taking a break, I often think about doing the same.

Love the gardening facts poem. Wish I’d written it too. Take care gorgeous Larisa ❤️

    1. So humbled by this comment, thank you! I don’t want my writing to become a compulsion I must do, so I think breaks are definitely going to become a little more common in the future. Thank you so much for caring, I truly appreciate it!

    1. I always laugh when you mention my crows, haha! That’s too cute ☺️ Thank you, I miss you all of you as well. But breaks are such a wonderful thing, it clears my mind. I hope you’ve been doing well, Harley. I’ll catch up on your blog really soon ♥️

            1. Lol! I don’t think I’d trust the crows with my soup haha! Bath bombs sound superb! I actually don’t remember the last time I used them. I use sea salt in my bath sometimes, and I spray the air with a lavender eucalyptus spray and take a glass of wine in there with me–it feels very ooh la la.

              1. Id totally trust the crows with your soup. Look what those mice did for cinderella. Imagine crows stirring with their little wings? 😍

Thats amazing. I use peace oils and incense with candles. Bath bombs and bubble bars a must, with a great mask.

  2. Selfishly, I hope your hiatus won’t be for long. I truly admire your ability as a writer, and I look forward to reading your work again soon. Naps are important though, I agree wholeheartedly. Rest well, and know your return will be greatly anticipated. 🙂

    1. You know, this is the kind of ‘selfish’ that leaves me feeling so flattered and even humbled. I completely understand the feeling, too, as I feel this way so often about people. Thank you!! I just, wow, your comment is so beautiful, it makes me so happy.

    1. Aww thank you Bill! I’m still here—I just needed some time away to really focus on myself and my well being. Sometimes I feel like social media platforms can become a crutch and I don’t do well with crutches. But you guys here on WordPress are truly wonderful.

    1. Lol! Thank you for that, Tim! Haha I love to lurk every now and then, so I am guilty as charged. I appreciate your offer of genuine friendship, you are truly gold. I don’t plan on leaving, I just needed a little bit of distance to focus on myself because I felt like I was being a little bit neglectful. I hope you are doing well 🙏🏻

        1. How fun!! I adore camping in the mountains next to a river. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of David Paulides ‘Missing 411’ youtube-casts and he talks about all the unexplained and mysterious cases of people who disappeared and were either never found again, or found in extremely mysterious circumstances. Most of them have occurred in national parks and forests. Just about 2 weeks ago, a girl from my hometown went hiking on a trailhead near to where I live and mysteriously disappeared. They sent in rescue teams with canines and had to call off the search. It makes me so cautious when we head into to the mountains for a hike.

          1. The old scout motto about being prepared still holds true. Plan, notify, notify someone else, leave a detailed note, prepare for the worst, plan on spending the night, hope for the best and you will be fine. Don’t and you won’t. I hope they find the girl, whatever the circumstances. You don’t need evil intent involved to disappear, the woods are big and we are small. Just so you know, I had a map and a compass, the compass was a great help. I’ll check out those youtube-casts.

    1. Thank you Simon—I’ve been checking in here and there. I mainly just wanted to disengage my mind in a way where I wasn’t relying on my blog for distractions or to get me through my work day or whatever. When social media becomes that kind of crutch for me, I tend to simply delete it completely and I don’t want to do that to this blog. This is my second blog on WordPress because that’s exactly what happened the first time around.

    1. Lol I love funny little memes and silly stuff. Thank you Isha, a break was exactly what I needed. I don’t want my blog to start feeling like a millstone around my neck and I needed to focus on a few things I had been neglecting. It’s always so good to reconnect again after being refreshed.

  3. Many virtual hugs

I’ve had a lot of accounts here on WordPress, I’m not Exactly happy to share that, often I’m embarrassed to share it. But coming from woman whose blogged for many years, I understand the many reasons that we take our breaks and move on or forward before finding ourselves here again. Or not. Take your time, always know you’re valued here and embraced each time you find yourself doin your thing, ❤️

    1. Thank you! I’ll take all the hugs.

That was so sweet of you to share that message, I appreciate it. I’m seriously on the very brink of deleting my blog and I’m fighting that urge with all I’ve got. I’ve been down that road once before already and deleted my previous blog with the same name on here several years ago. It wasn’t until a few years after that I regretted deleting my blog. There’s something about being harnessed to it that I find chafing sometimes and want to just throw the whole thing away. But, I do value all the friendships I’ve made on here already with other brilliant bloggers/writers. Your message is truly appreciated.

      Xoxo ♥️
